Walk 48: Machynlleth to Aberdyfi
After following the River Dyfi from Borth to Machynlleth, the walk from Machynlleth to Aberdyfi takes you back along the other side of the river to the meet the coast once again. This was a beautiful walk with spectacular views throughout, taking you into the hills and onto the aptly named Panorama Walk, before descending into pretty Aberdyfi.

Walk 47: Tre’r-ddol to Machynlleth
AKA 'the one where I had a big panic that there would be cows and there actually weren't any cows'. After reaching Borth, the Wales Coast Path moves away from the coast and along the River Dyfi to Machynlleth in Powys. Because of this, this walk feels very different to most Wales Coast Path stretches, but it is no less stunning, with beautiful views of the mountains of Eryri across the river throughout, beckoning you towards the Snowdonia section of the path.

The Ceredigion Coast Path is a 60-mile section of the Wales Coast Path in mid-Wales. Walk 46: Borth to Tre’r-ddol via Ynyslas (Circular)
In Borth, the Wales Coast Path and the Ceredigion Coast Path deviate, with the Wales Coast Path taking a right to begin the long trek around the River Dyfi, and the Ceredigion Coast Path continuing along the coast a couple of miles to Ynyslas, ending with stunning views across the river to Aberdyfi. This circular walk encompassed four-and-a-half miles of the Wales Coast Path, from Borth to Tre'r-ddol, and the section between Borth and Ynyslas.

Walk 45: Aberystwyth to Borth
We began our March 2024 trip to Ceredigion with a relatively short jaunt from Aberystwyth to Borth. This is a lovely seven-miler which starts with a wander around Aberystwyth's coastline, past South Beach, Aberystwyth Castle, Aberystwyth Pier and North Beach, before affording stunning views of the town from Constitution Hill. The remainder of the walk takes you along coastal paths past Clarach Bay and Wallog Beach, before heading into Borth.

Walk 44: Llanrhystud to Aberystwyth
The final walk of our February 2024 trip to Ceredigion took us from Llanrhystud to Aberystwyth – or, rather, from Aberystwyth to Llanrhystud. The toughest part of the walk is the steep ascent up Allt Wen, which did benefit from lovely views of Aberystwyth. The remainder of the walk is relatively flat, with lovely coastal views and some gentle ups and downs as you come into Llanrhystud.

Walk 43: New Quay to Llanrhystud
Despite the rain and slippery, muddy sections, the walk from New Quay to Llanrhystud (or, as we walked, from Llanrhystud) is a relatively flat, scenic and enjoyable section of the Ceredigion Coast Path, passing Llan-non, Aberarth and Aberaeron, and finishing with a walk along Cei Bach Beach to pretty New Quay.

Walk 42: Aberporth to New Quay
Just over four years after beginning our Wales Coast Path walk, we finally made it to the official midpoint of the path! The walk from Aberporth to New Quay is beautiful, but with quite a few ups and downs, passing the waterfall at Tresaith, Penbryn Beach, Llangrannog, Ynys Lochtyn and Cymtydu, before reaching the official centre of the Wales Coast Path at New Quay.

Having reached the end of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path in August 2023, after a five-month break, we took to the Wales Coast Path for our first walks of 2024 during February half term. This walk took us along the River Teifi to the Ceredigion coast, past Cardigan Island and Mwnt, and on to Aberporth Beach.

Walking the Pembrokeshire Coast Path
Opened in 1970, the Pembrokeshire Coast Path was the first National Trail in Wales and, as such, is probably the most well-known section of the Wales Coast Path. Interspersed with some of Cymru’s most beautiful beaches are iconic sites including St Govan’s Chapel, the Green Bridge of Wales, the Blue Lagoon and Strumble Head. The Milford Haven Waterway section offers less traditionally coastal views but a lot of interest as you discover Wales’ largest estuary.
