The Ceredigion Coast Path is a 60-mile section of the Wales Coast Path in mid-Wales. Passing stunning coastal towns and villages including Cardigan, New Quay, Aberaeron and Aberystwyth, and beautiful beaches along Cardigan Bay including Mwnt, Aberporth, Tresaith and Borth, this stretch is not to be missed.

How Long is the Ceredigion Coast Path?

The Ceredigion section of the Wales Coast Path is around 60 miles long.

What are the Start and End Points of the Ceredigion Coast Path?

We are walking the Wales Coast Path from south to north, so we began the Ceredigion section in Cardigan and finished in Ynyslas. At Borth Beach, a couple of miles south of Ynyslas, the Wales Coast Path heads inland towards Machynlleth, deviating slightly from the route of the Ceredigion Coast Path.

Where Can I Find a Map of the Ceredigion Coast Path?

You can view an interactive map of the Wales Coast Path on the official Wales Coast Path website. You can also browse a list of temporary diversions along the path, to ensure you don’t get caught out. You can also find maps and suggested walking routes in the Snowdonia and Ceredigion Official Guide.

How Long Does It Take to Walk the Ceredigion Coast Path?

We split the Ceredigion Coast Path into five-and-a-bit walks, although it could be completed in more, or fewer, legs, depending on your level of fitness and how deeply you’d like to explore the Ceredigion coastline.

A 12¼-mile walk starting with a stroll out of Cardigan along the River Teifi, with views across the river to Poppit Sands, before passing stunning Mwnt, and finishing via the road to Aberporth.

There are beautiful views throughout this 13½-mile stretch, which passes Tresaith – known for its stunning waterfall – Llangrannog, and Cwmtydu. By the end of the walk, in New Quay, you will have reached the official midpoint of the Wales Coast Path.

A 13-mile walk along Cei Bach Beach in New Quay, through the pretty harbour town of Aberaeron, past Aberarth and along the coast to Llanrhystud, with pretty coastal views throughout.

More great coastal views and some ups and downs past Penderi Cliffs and to Allt Wen, with great views of Aberystwyth and a steep descent.

Aberystwyth to Borth (and onwards to Ynyslas)

The seven-mile stretch from Aberystwyth to Borth offers a flat wander around Aberystwyth's coastline, followed by a short climb up Constitution Hill for more lovely views of the town, and a remote coastal section to Borth. Continue along the coast for a couple of miles past Borth to reach the end of the Ceredigion Coast Path at Ynyslas.

A walk along the Wales Coast Path is an amazing adventure, so what are you waiting for?!
