Follow my journey along the Wales Coast Path, where I share photos from the walk, my insights into walking the path, where I’ve stayed and eaten, and the challenges I’ve faced, to help you plan your very own Welsh Walking Adventure.
After following the River Dyfi from Borth to Machynlleth, the walk from Machynlleth to Aberdyfi takes you back along the other side of the river to the meet the coast once again. This was a beautiful walk with spectacular views throughout, taking you into the hills and onto the aptly named Panorama Walk, before descending into pretty Aberdyfi.
AKA 'the one where I had a big panic that there would be cows and there actually weren't any cows'. After reaching Borth, the Wales Coast Path moves away from the coast and along the River Dyfi to Machynlleth in Powys. Because of this, this walk feels very different to most Wales Coast Path stretches, but it is no less stunning, with beautiful views of the mountains of Eryri across the river throughout, beckoning you towards the Snowdonia section of the path.
In Borth, the Wales Coast Path and the Ceredigion Coast Path deviate, with the Wales Coast Path taking a right to begin the long trek around the River Dyfi, and the Ceredigion Coast Path continuing along the coast a couple of miles to Ynyslas, ending with stunning views across the river to Aberdyfi. This circular walk encompassed four-and-a-half miles of the Wales Coast Path, from Borth to Tre'r-ddol, and the section between Borth and Ynyslas.
